I absolutely love this polish! It builds wonderfully, if you do multiple coats to make it not so sheer, you’ll want to wait about 30 minutes between double applications. But you can build it without it creating bubbles! I’m sad that I’m not going to be able to buy it again! Mall crawler will be my next hoarded item.

Very disappointed!

I feel duped! Nowhere on the bottle, lid or display did it mention that this was translucent. I bought it based on the shade sample on the display and that it was quick dry. This was a total waste of my money! I've purchased many other expressie and regular essie shades and have been happy with them but this one is pure disappointment!

I get where the poor reviews are coming from-- this shade is transparent and never really becomes opaque. But it's marketed as transparent, so I think this polish deserves 5 stars. It's such a gorgeous color and is perfect for a subtle nail. It also works well with my cool skin tone and gives my nails a healthy flush.

Terribly disappointed.

This is an incredibly translucent nail polish, it's basically clear with a pink tint. I feel like this was a total bait and switch. Nowhere on the bottle or lid does it mention that it's translucent, it only says quick dry. Sadly this was a total waste of money.

So pretty in the bottle but super sheer/jelly like. Three coats still left it almost imperceptible. I will return it for a slightly different but opaque color.

Okay but not what I thought it was

Pretty color, but doesn’t look like the swatch online (which I looked at after purchasing) and also didn’t know it was a translucent color. My bottle or top doesn’t indicate anywhere that this was the case, otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it. It is a pretty sheer but not as advertised nor what I thought I was getting.

I bought this for my toes thinking, based on the coloring in the bottle, I’d have a nice pink/purple shade. Turns out it’s an incredibly sheer pink that made my toes look awful. No where on the bottle does it say ‘translucent’!!

I bought Mall Crawler & Turn up the Century and neither is labeled as sheer or translucent. Thayer are pretty in the bottle but that doesn’t translate when you put it on. Disappointed

Please NEVER discontinue this shade. This color is exactly what you want if you want one of those cute k-beauty pink translucent gel manicures. Very very chic and different. If you’re expecting opaque—don’t buy this. If you want a translucent Barbie pink gel filter over your nails—this is the one. I’m writing this review as I buy a second bottle.

I love this color! It's a sheer pink that complements my warm skin tone. though it looks blu-ish pink in bottle, it goes on in a way that lets my natural nail color shine through. I am amazed that it really dried in one minute with two coats to a perfect gloss.

I am at surprised at how much I love this shade. It is a pink jelly that looks more opaque at 5 coats but I love it for how sheer and clean it looks on my nails, and I usually reach for deep, rich, dark colors. My nails have that polished “my-nails-but-better-look” even after 2 coats! My daughter likes this polish as well due its sheerness and how appropriate it is for school. I wish Essie would release more jelly shades especially since they are more in now. You can even layer glitter toppers on this polish or shimmer topcoats.

Too sheer

I was very excited to try out the expressie line and this was the first color I got. It looked like a cute pink/purple hue that wasn't too bright so I was very keen to try it! Disappointment. I have applied THREE coats and I can still see my nails. It looks like what you get when you want a french tip/manicure. Honestly, it looks like that annoying pink cuticle remover that I get from cheap Philippine nail salons back home. I am hoping the other colors are not like this and I am still willing to try them out because I am a big fan of the whole Essie brand.

I bought this color in the store and it doesn’t say anything about being translucent. Disappointed in the sheer pink - it matches too closely to my skin tone and doesn’t stand out plus I don’t like seeing the whites of my nails under polish - this was after 5-6 coats. I thought maybe the quick dry was a thinner polish.

I got this in-store and did not see any signs or indications that this would be a sheer finish, but it is incredibly sheer not very buildable. If that is not what you are going for, buyer beware!

Looks nothing like the photos

This looked like such a cute shade of pink when I purchased it but it almost looks like a french manicure type of glaze on. Nothing on the product packaging indicates that this is almost completely sheer. It's also a completely different color than in the pics online. My nails are a weird unnatural hue. The pic attached shows my index finger with just an Essie base coat and the other three fingers have three coats of Mall Crawler on them over the base.

I got to 4 coats and it was still translucent enough that I could see my natural nail through the color. Incredibly disappointing since that’s not at all what’s represented by the photos of the shade or on the bottle. Second time this has happened to me with Essie. I’m done.

The color reminds me of Essie bodice goddess. It's a jelly/translucent/sheer pink color. The polish becomes more opaque in three to four coats, but two coats gives the opacity shown in the photos. It's one of the few jelly polishes Essie offers and I like it a lot!

This is the perfect color and finish for me. I absolutely love the sheer cool pink tone and am so happy I found this in a quick dry formula. I'm not the most skilled at doing my own nails but prefer it to salon. This is the color I feel like I've been searching for my whole life, lol! Please never discontinue this shade.
It's fairly purple in the bottle but shows up perfectly pink on my nails. I used 2-3 coats.

I bought this shade in store at Target. In the bottle it looked like a gorgeous light dusty purple. When I got home and tried it, I realized it was translucent. I noticed on the review comments, Essie says the bottle should say translucent on the lid, but I’m here to say my bottle was not marked at all to warn me. So disappointed.

I bought this in store and loved the shade in the bottle, however after 3 coats there’s barely a hint of colour. Would not have purchase if I realised how incredibly sheer it is, it’s essentially a clear coat. Very disappointing.

Go-to every day color

I love this color and have converted all of my friends to it. It gives the perfect "manicured sheen" of a subtle polish with a delicate touch. It goes with everything and makes you look put together; perfect for work and day-to-night. The color reads like a pinky/purple Sailor Moon sheer--which is a bonus for me.
It works alone (I usually do 2 coats) or as a layer on top of glitter or pearly/metallic shades as a subtle effect.
Yes, it is sheer; when you see the bottle in real life, you will see the formula looks somewhat translucent, but that's why I love it. Maybe for the average polish addict, it's more of a base to use for designs or a French manicure. When I work up my courage to do nail art, I'll probably use it for that, too.

I bought this yesterday with hopes that essie had improved the formula from the disastrous purple translucent formula from an older line. Nope. It’s thin and patchy no matter how carefully I apply it, and it chipped despite capping my nails and using a top coat. After applying *yesterday*. I can find better sheer, fun colors in other brands, so I won’t be trying Essie’s again!

Absolutely love these translucent finishes and wish essie was making more of them! They offer a subtle touch of color which is so nice when you just want a little something. This polish takes forever to chip and if it does, you hardly notice it due to the softness of the color.
